We’re thrilled to share that Avrame and our founder Indrek Kuldkepp were recently featured in a full-length article in Architektur + Küche, one of Germany’s leading design and architecture magazines published by Bauhelden Media.
The article, titled “Das Haus, das Freiheit baut” (“The House That Builds Freedom”), dives deep into Indrek’s personal story and the values that shape the Avrame philosophy: simplicity, freedom, and meaningful design.
A Vision Rooted in Experience
Before launching Avrame, Indrek worked as a bricklayer — far from the world of architecture or startups. But after a personal turning point, he decided to build a home that aligned with his values: off-grid, debt-free, and designed for life, not status. That home became the seed of a new idea: homes that empower people to live more freely.
“I never wanted to be a slave to my house,” Indrek says.
“A good home gives you a lot but demands very little.”
The A-Frame Reimagined
While A-frame houses originally rose to popularity in the 1960s, many faded from the spotlight due to poor insulation and high energy use. Avrame’s mission has been to revive this iconic form – but better.
Our kits are modular, energy-efficient, and designed for both DIY builders and contractors. With no load-bearing interior walls, the layout is flexible – from airy lofts to traditional rooms. Approximately 81% of the materials are wood, supported by steel and glass.
Simplicity as a Statement
In a world of complex building systems and expensive technologies, Avrame focuses on honest, sustainable simplicity. Indrek jokes that he’s not interested in receiving calls from the Falkland Islands on Christmas Eve because a smart lock isn’t working.
Instead, our homes rely on low-maintenance, intuitive systems. Want to heat your home? Light a fire in the wood stove. No app required.
“Reduktion bedeutet nicht Verzicht,” Indrek says in the article.
“Reduction doesn’t mean sacrifice — it means designing things so they work for people, not the other way around.”
Beyond Buildings: A Philosophy
Avrame doesn’t sell prefab houses. We provide well-designed building kits, like oversized IKEA sets, that put the power back in your hands. Every part of our concept is built around practicality, sustainability, and autonomy.
Our homes aren’t flashy or oversized. They’re logical, efficient, and built with purpose. For those who value clarity, independence, and a deeper connection to nature, Avrame is more than just a structure – it’s a lifestyle.
As Indrek puts it:
“A house should serve people. Not the other way around.”
From Estonia to the World
Avrame homes now stand in over 30 countries, including Canada, the U.S., Spain, Madeira, and even the remote Falkland Islands — offering a viable alternative in places where conventional construction is either too difficult or too expensive.
From self-builders and off-grid dreamers to investors and families looking for smarter ways to build, Avrame offers a path that combines freedom, logic, and beauty.
